Owning a hot dog cart may seem like a different kind of dream, but it was ours for a long time, and in 2014, we got to building! Nothing makes us happier than serving up fresh, locally-sourced hot dogs and plenty of smiles to our awesome customers. Our homemade mustard, kraut, and aioli, along with our crazy selection of condiments, allows you to create any kind of hot dog you want -- the possibilities are endless! It's fun in a bun, as we like to say, and we can't wait to share the experience with you.

Owner

Daniel Aguirre, proprietor of the Happy Dog Hot Dogs cart, has landed a new permanent location after launching his endeavor in August. 'I have always wanted to do this, and I just started building,' the gregarious Aguirre said. 'My kids helped me, which was the best part.' Aguirre, a father of six, says he loves seeing his customers kids happy and playing with the balloon dogs he makes for them. Aguirre, a San Jose native, came to Capitola with his wife in 1997. Fueled by his enthusiasm for magic and entertainment, he opened the Capitola Village Magic Shop, which he ran until 2002. 'Now I am having lots of fun meeting people and making new friends with this new venture.'

  Great spot for a quick hotdog fix/Lunch spot. My husband and I love their sausages from Corralitos. My favorite is the Cajun! Hubby loves the Cheesy Bavarian.

  I have to start this review by saying that I am not a hot dog expert of any way, shape or form. The best hot dog I've had, buns and all, was from some arts and wine festival that my hometown hosts every year. And yes, I consider Costco hot dogs to be pretty darn good.
